Before I say goodbye I take a look behind me To see what mark a simple life has made. Recall the happy times and keep them deep inside me Before my memory of this world will fade. They say that every life behind it leaves a ripple But I did nothing grand and earned no fame. Yet one thing I did right, important, yet so simple: I had the sense to love you when you came. Too late to have regrets, too late to learn the lesson Too late now to put right what I did wrong. I know I can't go back, the pain I caused to lessen It's hard to make amends with just one song.
